5 November 1947. Peter Noone, lead singer of 1960s hitmakers Herman’s Hermits, was born in Davyhulme (now in Greater Manchester). Herman’s Hermits sold more than 60 million records, and had 14 gold singles and 7 gold albums. They were hugely successful in Britain and the USA.
