60s I had to skip a couple of times which is slightly disappointing as I do really like the artist.
70s I got immediately even though I probably don't remember it BACK in the 70s but the artist's work is well known down through the years.
80s is where we had the technical problems. SoundCloud was not available in my area but seeing as the song does appear to have quite a long intro I doubt if I would have got it in 17 seconds.
I did try earlier after midnight but thought I'd leave the 80s til later. Only reason I'm trying it again now is because half an hour ago I was been pursued by a suicide bomber. After running half a mile to get away from him I had just reached my house and was fumbling for my keys when I awakened from my nightmare.
So just in case he was still waiting for me in my dreams I decided to get up (well I did have to visit lavatory) . Now at 5am I think it might be safe to go back to sleep. Hopefully it's a beautiful woman chasing me this time !🤞🏻😴
80s wasn’t available in our region. Heardle actually posted the wrong version. They posted the album version which is easier to identify. I think that could be identified in 2 seconds (total fan), 4 seconds (clever deduction) and 8 seconds (guaranteed). Think we’d all get the Heardle version in the skips allotted.
The single version and the actual 80s Number 1 is almost 20 seconds longer and while you’d likely know the band from the beat quick enough, it doesn’t have the obvious guaranteed identifiers as to the song itself until about 20 seconds in.
60s: Needed the singing.

Well I did get all 3 tonight but with varying speed.
80s straight in there.
60s the intro seemed very familiar but I had to skip to the vocals to recognise the artist and then select the song.
70s I made a guess straight away but I had the right artist but wrong song . Skipped to the end and tried the same artist again and then selected the 1 track I'd never heard of before and that was the answer. They do pick some obscure tracks Heardle !🙄
Today’s Heardles suited me.
Not this time.
Growing up, the 60s track was played a lot in our house on what was then called a record player and not a turntable, kids. I think Vinyl was a future word then too. These were records- singles and albums.
We had an insert thing like a mini ice hockey puck with a centre cut-out for playing US singles here as they’re cut differently.

70s: I don’t know all that well. I was a bit nervous clicking on the title Heardle offered as one of the words was different to my recollection. I now realise that’s the album title. Or maybe I’m re-realising years later as I don’t think I’ve heard the track since my neighbour who was a proper fan moved home.
I haven’t heard the 80s track in a long time either but found the intro distinctive enough to remember quickly.

70's I immediately knew the artist. Guessed the wrong song first time but got it on the second try. And the funny thing is I now realise I don't the song that well and just got lucky 😅

I felt like I knew today’s song but was getting nowhere until the first line of singing began on the very last skip. I was able to finish that line in my head. Heardle had cut on the brink of revealing the one-word title.
The song is a cover of a 1936 song and has an interesting history.
