Good night

PreviousPage 79 of 605Next

Early start tomorrow so I'm gonna put the cat out, make a few prank phone calls, turn off the TV, and get cosy under the duvet.

Goodnight amigos 😇

70's I got immediately, the others not so immediate but still on the participation award list 😊🤣

60s song actually comes from the 40s.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(Ghost)_Riders_in_the_Sky:_A_Cowboy_Legend

And from the 1940s it can be traced back to 1860s

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_Johnny_Comes_Marching_Home

And from there to Robert Burns in the 1700s adding lyrics to a melody from the 1600s. The evolution of music generally involved singing new words to existing tunes. Melodies were seen as existing since the dawn of time, before language and before copyright. 😉

Thank you for the TED Talk Margaret, I was actually singing When Johnny Comes Marching Home about 2 seconds into the song and was getting very confused 😅

Goodnight everyone 🤗

Goodnight everyone.

3 very easy 1s tonight ( even if I’d never heard of the 60s band before), I’m expecting no passes from everyone!

Sleep tight !”😴”

Cranking up the pressure, Barnabus 🤔😋

70s & 80s immediately recognisable.

60s initially sounded like the Rawhide theme, but when I tried to type that in, Heardle didn’t offer anything so I backtracked, listened again and I got it on the action replay 😋

Yippee Aye Yeah, Yippe Aye No then Forrest ?

I’m possibly more familiar with the words being Toichfaidh Ar La with that tune BUT I do remember that song as a child.

Only thing is that 1 seemed to be an instrumental version.

Maybe RTE had censored it ?🤔

And funny enough Lois I was singing with Steve Earle and Sharon Shannon when I read your post !😉

Oh and if anyone gets 3/3 tonight with no skips I will treat you to a slapup meal in your favourite hotel followed by a night of mad passionate love making free of charge.

Oh and btw Charlie and Forrest, as much as I may like you both, maybe even love you that does exclude you. ☹

Edit? What could have been wrong with this post ?

Good night embryo..

I was slightly intoxicated last night when I posted but in the cold light of day I still wouldn't have got the 80s track anyway.

60s and 70s I had to use a few skips with both to guess the tracks. Maybe if I play them back today I might have got them sooner .🤔

The slap-up meal is safe Major. They were hard work. I had to scam the system for the 80s. Don’t know the intro but seeing as I keep banging on about Heardle repeating artists within a week, or 5 days sometimes, I left myself two skips at the end to guess and the first song they offered by a band that they had used less than a week ago was the right one. I do actually know the chorus now that I’ve heard it but there was zero chance of my getting it from the intro. 😅

60s was a struggle and the 70s surprised me a bit with the slow drumbeat. In my head the song is faster. The first chord was as fast as I could get it. Scissor Sisters went straight into “Wake up in the morning with a head like ‘what you done?’” from something very similar. 🧐

I was tempted to say I got all three without any skips, so I could claim a part of the free meal and "dessert" until I noticed wee Barney's edit - very disappointing 🤣🤣🤣

In reality, I needed skips for 60s & 70s to get the songs, but 80s I had no ideas in it at all - heard of the artist, but not memorable in any way.

60s song I knew more from an 80s version by Marc Almond, and 70s I thought was a 60s song. Confused.com 😋

Well there may be another time Forrest, don't despair!

Oh and the 70s tune ? I thought it came out in late December 1963 so you're not alone there!🤔

60's I had no chance, don't recognise it at all. Sorry, David 😅 70's, oh what a recognisable tune, once the keys kick in 😂 80's I know the chorus which, alas is no good on the Heardle front 🙄😂
