Sorry I gave such a shite clue about the 70s. I was so asleep I was thinking the first notes were like the high piano notes of I Don't Like Mondays.

I should have said the intro was one of the totally misleading ones. If it was actually 2 seconds longer you'd have heard the words Boogie Nights, I think.

My first guess was The First Cut Is The Deepest by Rod Stewart Margaret . Very similar harp intro.

Well once again the 80s have come to my rescue.

60s and 70s I didn't know the songs. 70s I typed in the opening lyrics and got a result.

60s I had to goggle the opening lyrics and strangely enough I got the artist I had already tried. Turns out there was more than 1 version of this song. In this case it's not the only time one artist covered the other's work.

80s suited me best, then the 60s.

Had to scam the 70s. I guessed the band at the end and Heardle gave me the song. It’s famous but I don’t have any recollection of ever hearing it. In theory I should have as I have as I had friends who liked the band.

60s is a great example about how overly fussy me and my ears are.

I know this, so there’s no need for anyone to get offended. The original version has a classic line repeated as a refrain, but the way the way it changes each time—especially the last word—after the gorgeous first-time, jars.

I’m just as awfully fussy about the cover as the harmonising of the line jars even more. Given the lyrical intent, it can’t become a group line just because the band are famous for their harmonies. Or maybe sing it solo once and immediately repeat it harmonised to grow.

I know no one needs to know this but if anyone gets offended in the future remember this moment. I know I’m

Got the 60's once the vocals came in. I know the song from the original version, but never knew the name of it. Once I heard the singing I recognised the band and had to do a process of elimination 💪😅

70's no hope 😂

80's straightaway 🤗

Me too, Major. Great lyrics, great melody, great voice. It has everything. Classic. I also love PP Arnold’s version. Must put up the original too. 😍
