I found the interview surprisingly, incredibly interesting, BR- from the Beatles (and breaking into their hotel and getting George's autograph), Stones and Dylan's gigs in Dublin to the formation of The Boomtown Rats but that could be just me- we are all individuals! It is a serious time commitment, in fairness. If anyone recommended something that length to me I'd be thinking ah here. 🤣

I don't doubt it CC. I did skip a bit and he was talking about seeing the Beatles with his sister so he must have been fairly young. Just didn't have the time to watch it all.

70s: I’ve no recollection of ever hearing it. The band had many hits including one about my favourite type of bed linen that’s really famous.
80s: Needed the higher notes descending to get this. It’s probably universally known but I haven’t heard this version too many times. Not sure if karaoke versions use this version or a close approximation of it but I think karaoke nights are where I’ve witnessed it most from.
Don’t try and lip read Bridget for clues. She’s not singing it.

60s I knew the artist but went for the wrong track so had to go again.
70s Once again a non runner but it's not their first outing at the race track.
80s instantly recognisable.
The 60s and 80s suited my memory best.
I’ve a vague memory from Today FM that the 60s’ track is Roy Keane’s favourite song.
The 70s was a struggle. I don’t know where Heardle found that mix of the track but it’s not the funkier one I’d recognise. To my ears it was different enough to think it must be a whole other song. In the end I had to just put in the band and ignore the 3 tracks I was surer it wasn’t. I’d have been kicked off any quiz by this time for slow-walking. 2/3.
I went to YouTube and I can’t find the Heardle version so I don’t think it’s just me being a bit addled.

I know that’s the album version of the track but the single versions I heard today were also different to Heardle. I find it/them all funkier. The mystery will remain. Heardle’s version will disappear at midnight anyway so it’s all academic. Like myself. Goodnight Privates. 😘

Do you remember a while back Major how nobody could understand how I didn't recognise the intro to Maggie May. By the time you all had listened to the Heardle track the next morning it was the familiar intro we all know.
Who knows why they pick a certain version of a track ? Just to frustrate us ?
Well I don't know and don't care (ish).

Well I did actually sleep but it didn't do me much good Heardle-wise.
80s I did get immediately but 60s and 70s I hadn't a clue. I have seen the song title for the 70s track and it's 1 of those that sticks in your mind. Unfortunately I don't believe I've ever heard the song.
1/3 for me . If anyone gets 3/3 then they are a music encyclopedia!

The 70s you can tell from the lyrics that it’s likely an old, old folk song but I don’t remember either hearing it or hearing it enough to recognise the lyrics. The title is familiar.
I’m going to have to write a strongly worded letter of complaint about the 60s.
It should start with a sound effect. I was thinking, well it can’t be x because x starts with an x. I realised after a couple of skips that it definitely was x minus the sound effect. Now I’m not a conspiracy type
But that sound effect that Heardle seem to have chopped out is title-related, coincidentally, and I’ll leave it at that. Oh well, it would have been nice to have had a shot at the title before the
