Great choice CC ! Well that’s assuming that you picked the Rats for the drum intro. Never would have thought of that 1.

A bit of a cross over between 2 genres or maybe just RocknRap is Walk this way with Aerosmith and Run DMC….

Goodnight everyone.

But before I go to me bed I have to ask who Garry is/was Charlie. Is it a wake for me or not ?

Thanks Forrest, I hadn’t realised that. Quite a coincidence that Looking After No. 1 has the drum intro. Obviously I am aware of Geldoff and remember names like Johnny Fingers and Pete Briquette but sorry to say the other members names don’t stick in my mind. I probably should remember the drummers name but it too escapes me.

I think I still have 2 of their albums, A Tonic for the Troops and The Fine Art of Surfacing. Didn’t have their first album or subsequent 1s. They were a great band in their day.

RIP Garry.

Why did I start raving about drum intros anyway ?🙄

70s has possibly 1 of the longest drum intros I've ever heard but I hadn't a clue. Know the artist ok but honestly don't know much of their material.

60s As soon as I played the first bit I knew I would kick myself for using skips but I did need them. Got there just as the vocals were about to kick in. Know the song well but not the artist.

80s I got straight away and once again I'll probably get stick for this!😜

The 60s suited my memory best. Classic.

70s: I’ve no recollection of ever hearing it. The band had many hits including one about my favourite type of bed linen that’s really famous.

80s: Needed the higher notes descending to get this. It’s probably universally known but I haven’t heard this version too many times. Not sure if karaoke versions use this version or a close approximation of it but I think karaoke nights are where I’ve witnessed it most from.

Don't try and lip read Bridget for clues. She's not singing it.

Simon Crowe is the drummer's name, Barney. I'm the same as you with remembering Pete & Johnny as their names kinda stick out.

I used to mix up Gerry Cott & Garry Roberts (Garry Cott & Gerry Roberts ) but Simon did stick in my memory bank.

I still have the first three albums on vinyl somewhere - must get them out for a play soon.

I met their original manager, Fachtna O'Kelly, a few years ago and he wasn't anything like I had expected.

I think he might have featured in a recent documentary called Citizens of Boomtown

As for today's Heardles - 60s tune was instantly recognisable, if not the artist.

70s artist is well known but I didn't recognise anything in the intro to suggest I might guess correctly, and ditto for the 80s

No harm to St Robert but my life is too short as it is to watch over an hour of this CC. My apologies.😟
