Well back on the wrong track again.

60s an all time classic.

70s I hadn't a clue. Band or song.

80s I immediately thought of a song but instead of going for it but decided to skip to the end. Shoulda went with my gut cos the skips just brought more of the same.

Slight SPOILER ahead.

Only slight 1 mind you. Reason the 80s seemed familiar but not exactly what I was thinking of is because it's a live version. Maybe it is identical to the studio track but that's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it !😉

The 60s suited me best. Classic.

I have no recollection of hearing the 70s track before and my only memory of ever hearing about the band is that one of the members went on to join The Eagles.

I didn’t remember the 80s immediately. I don’t remember hearing the live version before. I must have but I can't remember. No offence but I prefer the studio version and not just because it’s what I’m used to. The studio version is really funky and has a very distinctive sound and groove. As always, the live version may be ‘livelier’- there’s probably a way better word that doesn’t sound like talking in circles- but sound is more important to me as it often has the unique fingerprint of the song that gets lost live. It doesn’t always matter with a lot of songs- U2’s Bad is better live, I think- but when an artist is a master of the studio it does. And that’s besides the fact that the artist played all of the instruments on the recording.

Apparently, John Lennon agreed with me on the studio version of the song and was inspired to start writing again after hearing it but I didn’t know that until 5 minutes ago. Wiki is worth reading on this but not if you’re avoiding

Also, because the live version was a Number 1 in the States and the studio version was a Number 2 in these parts, Heardle 80s Number 1s had to go with the live one.

Funny enough Major I did type in the name of the Eagles member you referred to at the start of the track as the guitar was in his style. There were no options for him as a solo artist and I'd never heard of the featured band so no joy but at least I was on the right track.😉

Got 60s & 80s straightaway, but never heard of the 70s song or artist.

Got the 60's straight away 😎

It was all downhill from there! Never heard of the 70's song or band. 80's just never heard of the song.

Bit of a rough day at the office but sure nothing a few rounds of Naked Twister won't cure 🥰

Well spotted on the Joe Walsh style front Major. That's the best any of us managed. No naked Twister for you, you big winner you!

Well a mixed bag today.

60s I guessed straight away for an instrumental but I was wrong of course. After a skip and the vocals I recognised the artist but was still unsure of the song so I think there were 3 or 4 options and I picked the 1 that I was unsure of the intro and got it right.

70s ? Nah, hadn't a clue. Didn't even have Joe Walsh as a clue this time either.

80s I got straight away (nothing to be proud of!)

So all in all not great. But it is Friday and hey, life's been good to me so far !😉

60s: At Christmas time! Band Aid!

70s: Tribe Called Quest!

80s: ChildLine!

The 60s was a bit of struggle. The 70s took time to remember the original. They were a forgotten band until they became one of the most sampled bands ever. Almost a perfect band for sampling as they left so much space around the hooks in their mixes to add something new over rather than being funky but no room at the inn. I think we’ve all heard them mostly without knowing who they are. Great to hear.

80s: Don’t know where my brain pulled ChildLine out of but it was actually the right charity. Sometimes speed works but in general

Nada on 60s & 70s, 80s needed a skip to be sure

Snap with Forrest on today’s scores. I do know the 70s band but not that song. Margaret posted a song of theirs on the Music thread that I know but I can’t place where I know it from. Was it in an ad or something? It’s back a page and I respect that can be like hard work 😂

So I’ll post it here too 😇 Whoever remembers where it’s from is the real winner because my rules 😉

It was in Jackie Brown Major Hi. It's not on the soundtrack album for some reason but it was in the movie.

Think it would be a miracle to find the scene though and it's Friday night...

Good Night Privates. 😘

I have seen Jackie Brown, Margaret but I feel like it's also in something more recent. Maybe some Youtube ad that kept coming up every five seconds because it's just incredibly familiar.

I'll sleep on it and maybe I'll have some divine intervention by morning 🤣

Goodnight everyone 🤗
