Small study but still shows this. In UK we don’t even count reinfections so case rates are completely unreliable. Made worse as only lateral flow tests now done which aren’t usually reported.

📌Not a good signal—somehow in the original 🇿🇦 epicenter of #Omicron, #BA2 subvariant has suddenly become dominant ~58% now, displacing old BA1 strain. Same thing happened in Denmark 🇩🇰 where BA2 is now over 65% dominant.

Excellent analysis. @ChristosArgyrop and I have conceded that much of the protection is NOT via immunological memory or cell priming but rather the antibodies.
I implicate the MHC downregulation by ORF8 as to why T cell responses do not suffice https://t.co/XEIeNbUFEi

1/Is Omicron BA.2 already here?
I met a child yesterday who got Covid twice in 4 weeks. Herd immunity concept has been shortsighted by us. We cannot let ourselves get trapped by 'It's mild & It's over' narrative for our kids

One of the major theories for Omicron's evolution is via an animal reservoir. Here is a new report of "2 separate [Delta] transmission events [from pet hamsters] to humans are documented, one leading to onward household spread."https://t.co/wYArRR298T
