And in my opinion Live & Let Die was the best Bond theme. Recent 1s have been meh.

But that questions your recent ratings by putting Billie Eilish at Number 2.

Apparently, Sam Smith was the first one to actually go to Number 1 in the UK. News to me. Sorry Sam. And Adele’s Skyfall is one of the biggest selling singles of all time. It was also the first to win an Oscar in 2013. Smith and Eilish won Oscars also, in 2016 and 2022. Dusty Springfield (1968), Wings (1974), Carly Simon (1978), and Sheena Easton (1982) were all nominated but didn’t win.
No one agrees with my choice. My absolute favourite is Louis Armstrong even if we never have all the time in the world.

Don’t like the contradiction of anyone doing it better than Nobody Does It Better but I’m afraid Carly Simon just had to give best.
Carly also had to just give best to Live and Let Die on NME’s list.

Well seeing as Louis Armstrong's All the time in the world played at the end of the film it does differ from other themes. Great tune all the same.
But not only does NME agree with me but I agree with them putting Carly Simon in second place, another great tune.👏🏻👏🏻

Quote from Barney Rubble on October 5, 2022, 11:27 pmDid someone post here recently about Sean Connery suggesting a 3some with Carly and her sister ?
I know I read it somewhere recently anyway and think it was here. Obviously this was a few years before she sang the theme, he was still playing the part of 007 at the time of the indecent proposal.
Although if memory serves me right Carly's sister didn't find the proposal that indecent but Carly didn't join the fun. I think she was shaken, not stirred !🤣

Major Hi posted it on the Legend thread. Took forever to find because our search function isn’t really functioning. I thought it used to highlight the search words—like “Carly” or “Simon Sisters” in this case—with some colour around them. But now it just seems to suggest threads they may be in. So in the end I looked up Carly’s birthday and checked the Legend thread around that date.

”Sorry for quoting the Daily Mail, but I think it’s okay in this case as they’re quoting Carly Simon’s autobiography and not hacking phones 😅
Carly Simon reveals in her new memoir that she almost had an unforgettable sexual encounter with James Bond himself, Sean Connery.
Carly writes that while she was sailing to New York from London in August 1965 aboard the S.S. United States with her sister Lucy, they sent a note to Connery saying what big fans they were of his work.
Connery later invited them for drinks, and the next night in his stateroom asked the girls if they were interested in having a threesome.
Carly writes that one of her friends referred to it as a ‘Simon sisters sandwich.’
Carly was just 20 at the time and her sister Lucy 22, while Connery was 35 and married to the actress Diane Cilento.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Carly described Connery in her memoir as ‘far handsomer in person,’ but that she ultimately declined his offer of a threesome.
The following night however Lucy went to see Connery in his room and did not return until 5:15am the next morning.
Carly was so mad at her sister for this that she broke up their musical act, The Simon Sisters, when they arrived home in New York.
At the time, Carly was in a relationship with British writer Willie Donaldson, who she would later become engaged to until he jilted the young singer.”
