Strange selection tonight.
60s I had to skip to the vocals, no question about that.
80s I got with no skips.
70s I SHOULD HAVE GOT WITH NO SKIPS as I instantly knew the song BUT I said no way was it released in the 70s so I skipped thinking it was a song with an identical intro but after a skip or 2 I typed in the band and there they were. I almost felt like weeping .😭

I think we can safely say you got the 70s in one Major. The quiz is about recognising songs so if you know a song on the first skip then job done. 👏🏆
All the ways we’ve found of scamming the system are clever, and it’s understandable that we do them rather than give up, but most aren’t really job done in the pure quiz sense.
It’s fascinating though. The vital question for the Major was whether you were more certain you recognised the song than you were certain the song couldn’t have been from the 70s. That had to be resolved but brains don’t like to be questioned. They want automatic responses.
They make us press skip before the question has been answered. Questions take energy, energy takes food and resources that we have to try and not use up because these were in shorter supply in early evolutionary times. Finding sugar for quick energy meant finding the right berries which was a bit of a lottery and not just about opening the right kitchen press. In evolutionary terms we’re generally about 25000 years behind the times. All of us. But knowledge is power. But also scary. The next question is

But why don’t we find these things fascinating? Like, the key to everything fascinating.
Fine. Not explaining how I scammed the 80s and the 60s scammed me so.
I guess it would be worse if I got the 60s without a skip rather than the 80s 1 Major.
70s I will say no skips - the song was rerecorded and released in 1985 so that's what threw me. That's my story and I'm sticking to it !

It’s a beautiful melody with great instrumentation, gorgeous call and response vocals, perfectly arranged by the gifted but troubled Jack Nitzsche. Sublime.
Not now Audrey but yes, the feeling is about right.
And I’m writing a strongly worded letter of complaint to Heardle about shafting me. 😂
