My only consolation this morning is that the booby prize is playing naked twister with Lois !😜

60s and 70s I hadn't a clue. Have heard of both artists (60s in a roundabout way) but to my knowledge I never heard either song before .

80s I used more skips than I should have really cos the tune was already in my head. On this occasion I got artist and track but if it had been 1am who knows what way my head would be working.

Anyway 1/3 is better than a big fat 0. Onwards and upwards.

(Just hope I'm not playing naked twister on my own - no fun in that !)

Oh and I'm not suggesting that you will be taking up the rear Lois - it's just that we got the booby prize yesterday and let's face it what a prize that is for me !

I just hope that I don't bring up the rear with Charlie or Forrest !😣

I don’t have any recollection of ever hearing the 60s song. Having failed that I listened to the track in full and having sounded vaguely familiar at the start it kept becoming more and more unfamiliar to me.

80s was reasonably familiar. Not overly though.

70s was a perfect example of a how we can know a song well because of a single random moment rather than hearing it many times.

I was reasonably convinced Lois would know yesterday’s 70s song because of the Lost In Translation karaoke scenes. I’m even more convinced this time because today’s 70s song was used in a classic Family Guy scene parodying soul-searching moments from shows like Dawson Creek. So not offering a clue today. When I heard the song on Family Guy, I’m pretty certain it was a first for me. And that’s how it would’ve remained until today.

Well, let’s not overstate it. 🤣

Ok so when I actually played the 70s song past the intro I had heard it before but never would have guessed the artist or title. Was it the song Will Ferrell sang at Old Blue's graveside in Old School or am I completely off track ?🤔

Spot on Major! Outstanding memory! I never even thought about that connection. Wow!

Happy Jennifer Lawrence GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

Old School was released in 2001 and the Family Guy episode, The Juice Is Loose, was from Season 7 Episode 9 in 2009. Memories and the way our brains connect to things can be unreliable but I’m fairly sure when I watched Old School I was unfamiliar with the Blue funeral song Will Ferrell was singing. I may even have thought it was improvised on the spot. 21 years ago, I don’t think I would have jumped to YouTube to check it out the way I would now.

Skipping on to 2009, maybe as I watched Family Guy referencing today’s 70s song, I thought ooh that’s kinda familiar from somewhere but wasn’t able to place the Old School memory. Sorry Old School fans and fans of the band. That’s brains and memories.

I now realise the song is famous and has 200 million views on YouTube but it was never on my radar. But—given the popularity of Family Guy, Old School and maybe other shows referenced it as these things tend to snowball—it’s possible that a fair percentage of those views came about as a result of people being introduced to past art being referenced in later art and cultural moments. Yes, Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing was always popular but the full-scale revival snowballed after the Sopranos referenced it in their show finale. Not too long ago bands had to be paid fortunes to allow their music appear in a movie. Now they would pay to feature because of the power of the revival.

I sure did. Can’t beat learning and thinking about new things. Otherwise, everything iffy or questionable that we’ve always thought remains right forever simply because we don’t allow it to be challenged.

Thanks Major. 😘🤗

Because the curiosity was killing me, I just had a careful, non-spoiler conversation with Major High that went a little like this

GIF by Schitt's Creek - Find & Share on GIPHY

Me: Do you remember that song Will Ferrell was singing at Blue’s funeral in Old School?

LH: I close my eyes? Of course. Blue sings it too. In heaven at the end over the credits.

Proceeds to sing it all the way to the dust in the wind line.

Me: Maybe that’s the name of it? Dust In The Wind?

LH: Maybe.

Me: Do I know it from anywhere else?

LH: Family Guy. The OJ episode.

Proceeds to quote Joe Swanson’s lead into the song and realises it mentions the name.

Me: Do you remember the band name?

LH: Boston?

I’ll recommend Major High does the Heardle without reading anything here and if she doesn’t get the 70s song right I’ll be calling for an inquest. Yes, I’m aware the karaoke Lost In Translation debacle was only last night. Also, if Major Lois claims to know the band. 🧐

60's I've never heard before. 70's instantly recognisable... around the 4th skip 🤣 Where was the singing? It doesn't matter, you're my boy, Blue 😍😂

For the purists, apparently the band is Kansas, not Boston or Chicago. These flippin' pedantic Heardle folk 🤣

80's the chord sequence saved me at the last second 😎😂

P.S. Margaret, I now understand why you were asking me all those weird questions today. Thank you for the no spoilers 😍

Did I win? Even if I didn't, I still want to do naked Twister 😘

Just realised I should have known the band Kansas as I have the soundtrack to Anchorman which features Carry On My Wayward Son.

Come on  Lois, get your head in the game 😂😂

Bit of a mixed bag this morning with another admission of embarrassment for knowing a track.

60s I had to skip to the end when the singing starts, then it's very familiar.

70s I had to use a couple of skips as the percussion wasn't telling me anything. But once the guitar starts it's instantly recognisable.

80s - What can I say . Got it straight off. I think this 1 might be even more embarrassing than Rick Ghastly. 🤣
