3 totally recognisable songs. 2 with totally recognisable intros. 1 with 19 seconds of faffing about before launching into the actual song.

In short, I totally didn’t recognise the 60s intro.

The exact same 2/3 for me too, Barney 😊 And I totally knew the 60’s song once the intro was out of the way. Margaret, I feel your pain 😅

Goodnight everyone 🤗

A really mixed bag for me this Sunday morning.

60s I hadn’t a clue about the song or the artist.

70s I got straight off.

80s I stupidly used a lot of skips when the answer was there in the first 2 seconds. I don’t know if it was brain fog but I had a song by the Jackson 5 in my head and it just blocked everything else out.

I wonder if Ed Shearin wrote this song cos it’s an obvious case of plagiarism . Well in comparison to some of the cases brought against him. The new Marvin Gaye 1 is totally ridiculous in my eyes .🙄

I’m getting there. Jesus. 70s, everyone knows the band and maybe everyone knows the song. Everyone except me. I’ve no recollection of ever hearing it. The song title is also unfamiliar to me. Sorry rockers.

80s was very familiar to me and if I’d managed to forget it, I would’ve more or less guessed before even hearing it from the Major’s hint. It was spot on. The song that was basically written as a full-on Jackson 5 track to launch a band that the producer saw as the next big thing. One of the band—I don’t think they were the main singer on that track—went on to have a very successful solo career. The producer went on to have much greater success with their next band.

60s was by a famous character from the era who’s largely forgotten nowadays. They were in bands with half the Stones, Elton John, Rod Stewart and others. They discovered Rod busking and saved Elton John’s life with Bernie Taupin. Their biggest hit will probably crop up on Heardle in 5-7 days.

Re the 60s song, I was a bit off in thinking it was the theme to the 1968 Olympics but not totally off.

Well I'm the complete opposite of you Major. I got the 70s immediately but I've honestly never heard of the 60s artist. We must have danced to the beat of a different drum.😉

I've never heard the 60's song in my life, but I got a great hint from Margaret to type in any country the first clip made me think of. So I scammed it beautifully 😂 Not that I'm taking any points for that! For both the 70's and 80's I had loads of idea, none of which were correct 🤣

I'll be off to naked twister now so 😍

Ditto Major. 70s and 80s totally recognisable to me. 60s totally not recognisable to me. I think Major Woody played the 80s recently. Must dash. Laters Privates. 😘

Where did they find the 60’s song? Very naughty 😂 Margaret tells me it got to no.29 in 1969. Is that even in the 60’s 🤔🤣

70’s and 80’s no problems 👍

Well I did manage to get the 60s track today but I had to skip to the vocals. At least it's a recognisable song and artist this time. Some of you will probably get it without the vocals.

70s is instantly recognisable, classic tune.

80s I got with no skips but needed the tiniest wee snippet of a certain musical instrument.

Needed the full riff to get the 80s. Luckily it came in the first two skips. Didn’t actually realise what band had recorded the song until I typed in the title. Sorry, 80s band. Well done Major. 👏👍

70s just about every second of the song is memorable.

I Love You Reaction GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY

60s, the high sliding note in the first skip was key. Without that I would’ve lost confidence until the vocals kicked in. Back when artists were more forthcoming about influence, because that’s how music gets made, the artist explained it was based on a 1956 Chuck Berry song, Too Much Monkey Business. Berry’s song employed reasonably standard scat techniques that date back to well before Louis Armstrong’s popular scat recording Heebie Jeebies from 1926. Berry’s song was much more successful than today’s 60s song in terms of chart position when they were released. Over time it has become forgotten unlike the 60s track.
