As for Heardle I needed to skip right to the end to the vocals for the 60s and only for the lyrics I wouldn't have had a clue.

Not only did I not get the 80s, I actually listened to it the other day because I got it into my head that the “I’m on love patrol” song that’s been bugging me was either by today’s 80s band or played on TOTP in a “that was … and here’s” kind of way. Brains can be so unreliable. 😜
Not alone that, but, I specifically noted two of their biggest hits—including this one—as songs that I wouldn’t get if Heardle had them as I wouldn’t connect the intro with the very familiar chorus. This is already a bleeding essay so I won’t over-explain how modern producers would knock a minute and a half from the five this track takes—most of it from the minute and a half it takes to get to the chorus.
And so it came to pass that I failed today’s test miserably and yes it was as you would describe, Alanis.
In my defence my brain was distracted by the 80s video from committing the audio intro to my memory as it’s uncomfortably close to an all-out parody. If I could travel back in time I would probably find my young self diving to change radio or TV stations every time an intro like this came on. Remotes and hyperactivity diagnoses were in the future.
