I don’t have TV channels anymore. My TV is hooked up for games, DVDs and connected to a laptop for YouTube or Netflix type material. It’s all about fully choosing what and when to watch and not putting up with what’s offered. I do have fond memories of sporting occasions or the odd Christmas movie on childhood TV but for me those days are gone. Life’s too short. If I did still have regular TV I’d probably take a break unless there was some balance to perspectives.

I met the Queen Mother at the races and, like anyone else, she seemed grand and polite. But, besides the colonial injustices the idea of a monarchy will never not seem mind-bogglingly ridiculous and wrong to me. Palaces should be museums open to us all as we learn how obsequious and misled we were in the past. Fairy tale princesses make more sense.
Having said that, in reality, someone like Diana attempted to do some good.
This was at a time of widespread homophobia and demonisation, in no sense whatsoever was she aligning herself with a “trendy cause.”

Who’s the new king? My eldest son. Is he the best person for the job? Ah you know yourself. What was the interview process? Who got down to the last five? Qualifications? His being the eldest and male. It’s a bit like the way you’d inherit a farm in some countries. If we hadn’t colonised them.
