Initially the women I heard from who had experienced this were mostly feeling quite lucky as they were not arrested, the gardai said it was a welfare check only and they'd be no problems provided they cooperated

The gardai are saying to sex workers they need to do these operations as there are huge numbers of victims of sex trafficking in sex work currently and they must rescue these women. Will be interesting to see trafficking stats in due course to see if there any truth in this.

Trafficking has been used so many times already as an "excuse" why people in sex work must suffer. When the trafficking stats are published in due course I want to check if there has genuinely been big rise in trafficking victims around now. Or if this is just the garda excuse.
