18 January 1879. Boy’s Own Paper was published for the 1st time. Editor was Samuel Beeton, husband of cookery writer, Mrs. Beeton. It was aimed at young boys and was published until 1967. The contents included adventure stories, notes on sports and games, puzzles and much else.
