13 January 1961. Suggs (Graham McPherson), lead singer of Madness, was born in Hastings. Madness had 15 Top 10 UK singles and one No 1, House of Fun. Suggs got his nickname by randomly sticking a pin in an encyclopaedia of jazz musicians and hitting Peter Suggs.
