31 August 1945. Van Morrison was born in Belfast. He rose to fame as lead singer of Them. His solo career began in 1967 with Brown Eyed Girl. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him 42nd on its list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”. He was knighted in 2015.
