60s ain't nothing like the real thing but that's all the clue Major H needs. Well truthfully you won't need any clues at all for this 1. I needed a couple of skips
70s I recognised the riff at the start but was more attracted to a cover version of the song, not familiar with this 1 but sure nothing wrong with that is there ? Or even mildly humorous...
80s back again to Mr Whitney Houston. Maybe he was doing a duet with Claire and H ? I gambled with Janet Jackson on the first skip so that fulfilled my hat trick of failures. 0/3
Wasn't able to remember the name of the 70s artist until I typed in the song. All I could remember was the band were named after one member—the surname sounds like a spice brand but I didn't remember that—and that Nick Lowe wrote this song that Elvis Costello had a hit with later on. Attracted, Major, brilliant. 😉
No hope of the 80s song and artist—I would've gone for Janet Jackson from the sound too—without the Major's great clues. 🤗

Another sleepless night, another duck egg. And the 60s and 70s linked by Madge.
The 60s Singer sounds a bit like their song and the song sounds a bit like Madge but she was no Runaround Sue. OK, I did guess this 1 from the opening lyrics but didn't get the artist so that doesn't count.
70s I hadn't a clue. Thought that sounds nothing like Whako Jacko when I seen the artist's name but realised I had misread the answer. More like an American sprinter. But was the song better than Madge's 3rd album release ? I think not !
80s definitely not a clue and not sure how to leave a clue as I know nothing about the artist. Were they straight shooters ? Hope they had nothing to do with the B men up here, they were creeps and murderers. Maybe Terry Hall was in the band ? I dont know. You mightn't get the song on your first attempt but give it another go.
