Good night

70s and 80s suited my memory best. Big hits. I have special memories of the 70s track.

Messed up the 60s. Repeat offender. Great song. I should have got it on the first skip. The guitar for the intro runs through the chorus enough times to make it obvious but I just couldn’t remember it. The only excuse I can think of is I must have been paying too much attention to the vocals when I heard it before. Maybe I haven't heard it for years? Either way, I was getting nowhere until the gorgeous strings came in and stopped me embarrassing myself.

Dave Hill looked so cool there !

Well perhaps not….

Smallest drum kit I’ve ever seen though. And I’m not talking about Dave now !🤣

Couldn't get the 60’s. I know the artist but don't know if I've heard the song before. It was kinda familiar but that could just be the title 😊

Got the 70's straight away 🤗

I recognised the 80's but couldn't properly guess it until the mm hmms 😅

Not a great night for me at all.

60s despite knowing about repeat offenders here I was unable to select the correct artist.

70s I got but I must admit that I cheated by putting the opening lyrics into Google. I had heard the song before on a documentary about the artist, they're better known for a song that became a massive hit for another artist(s).

80s I got straight away. So only 1/3 for me tonight. ☹

Today was a struggle. Shouldn’t have needed the singing for the 60s—the answer was already there in the recognisable jaunty rhythm even on the first skip.

Shouldn’t have needed the singing for the 70s. Breaking Bad fans would get it faster from the series finale ending.

Shouldn’t have needed the second more ominous chord to get the 80s. In my defence I have no defence.

I think we posted something back in the day about the tragic story behind the band involving Apple Records; Allen Klein—who we already had in the story of Sam Cooke’s death; fraudster manager and mob bagman, Stan Polley; dodgy contracts, debts and their most famous song.

Without You wasn’t a hit for them. The singer of its most famous reincarnation before Mariah Carey, Harry Nilsson was also left penniless after his financial advisor Cindy Sims embezzled his earnings and left him with a mountain of debt. Sims was imprisoned in 1992 but didn’t pay restitution. Mariah Carey’s version was released a week after Nilsson died in January 1994. By then both of the song’s composers had committed suicide. So sad.

Very sad indeed Major. I remember reading how Gilbert O'Sullivan was robbed of his royalties by his then management. Lot of dodgy feckers back in the 70s.

Should have got the 60's sooner but I had to take the band route. Took three stabs at it, was, by now, running out of road and got it on the third go! Really should have known the song in the first place 🤭

70's I have a vague recollection of the song and band but not enough to recognise the intro 🙃

80's straight in 🤗

This is Lois logged in to Sugar Tits' account. They've been held up with work  so I'm going to check for any updates, without blowing everything up 😅

I've managed that and now I just have to post a suitable goodnight message which I think involves some relevant word of the day somewhere. Not quite sure how it works. Bear with me 😂

Thanks for all the tidy posts, quids in Barney! Thanks to Tommy who used to work on the docks. Thanks to everyone for the way you do the things you do. Hopefully it’s not all over now baby blue, but I am going to say goodnight. Hopefully I’ve covered everything!

Night all 🤗
