Unless my eyes are deceiving me Major? I’d like a second opinion. I had no idea. 🕵️‍♀️

Rod was definitely Number 1 for 4 weeks in 1977. 😍

Some say that God Save the Queen by the Sex Pistols was the actual number 1 during Lizzy’s Silver Jubilee Major.

Oh oh oh and the Housemartins were beaten to the Christmas number 1 by the late great Jackie Wilson’s Reet Petite.

The irony was that the same animators that did the Happy Hour video for the band did the work on Wilson’s video.

Is that not the date on that link you listed that they were last number 1 ? No that's not right either. I honestly don't understand these dates.

I don’t know but if it’s based on the UK charts Shakey and Wilson definitely were 85 and 86 number 1s.🤔

Yeah, Barney, it’s one of my favourite Christmas songs.

Gotta dash now. One of my sexy helpers needs a lift . . . .

That’s why I wanted a second opinion, Major. Thanks! It was totally news to me. I think I finally understand the listing now. The dates aren’t when the songs went to Number 1. The dates are “week ending”. So, Shakin’ Stevens was Number 1 on the week ending December 28—not that it went to Number 1 on December 28. Presumably it went to Number 1 on December 21?

You were also spot on about Jackie Wilson’s Reet Petite.

This list is safer:

That’s the go-to forevermore.

No. I really should have checked there in the first place. I think I was just curious about what else was happening in the charts around Christmas and who knocked whom off the top spot.

I’d be confident that if official chart shops hadn’t refused to sell The Sex Pistols’ record that it would have been Number 1 for at least 1 or 2 of the 4 weeks Rod was Number 1 for.

And sorry, Whitney, your actual UK Christmas Number 1 didn’t come until 1992.

I saw this cutie during the bad snow last weekend, and offered her a lift even though I was going in the opposite direction, because the driver of that car didn’t stop (the fool). She invited me in for “coffee”, put on some sexy red stockings and warm boots, and flashed me a welcoming smile

Different artists but I'm guessing Mary's Boy Child by Harry Belafonte in the 50s and Boney M in 78.
