The 70s and 80s songs were instantly recognisable to me anyway.

Something very strange goin on here. When I play the 70s track now it IS instantly recognisable but last night they played a short instrumental that preceded the album track and that’s what threw me.
I actually googled it last night and there is a short instrumental on the album, it’s title a girl’s name.
So if I had have went to bed early and waited til this morning I would have got 3/3 with no skips !
Oh and the 60s 1 I wouldn’t have got the artist’s name but I knew the song intro ok.
So it’s back to Major Smarty Pants here after all !😜

The mandolin gave me the answer straightaway—John Peel “played” it on TOTP. On the version I heard the singing starts at 8 seconds so they wouldn’t have to tell you the answer, you’d have it then. Something odd is going on.

Yeah Major, I think they just put a spanner in the works just to confuse poor Ol Barney.
As I said earlier I googled it last night and on the album there is apparently a 30 second intro to the song but it's definitely not a girl's name- well unless she's called Henry !🤣

Yeah I don’t think too many people would know that intro. Still doesn’t explain why that was the intro last night (or very early morning) and the more familiar intro was on today.🤔

For the 60s song, I had to skip to the lyrics, and tried two words which brought up the artist, 70s and 80s didn't require any skips thank goodness.
